    This position will serve as the POC for our government client and is concerned with the overall planning, direction and success of major programs, systems development efforts, and research or technology initiatives which have great significance to the program and agency’s needs. This large, multi-year effort is divided into several sub-programs/tasks. The Project Manager is also responsible for the overall program definition, organization, and direction of short- and long-range plans. This includes the responsibility for formulating, guiding, and directing the technical approach; and defining and negotiation with activity and agency personnel for necessary resources. Establishment and control of technical milestones, schedules, budgets and costs are also essential tasks for this position. You will deliver executive-level project reports and communications. Complex project and program experience is desired, specifically within an IT environment.

    Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will work directly with the Client and support team members to:

     

    • Prepare program communications and documentation including executive briefings, talking points, program milestones, weekly reports, etc.
    • Standardize processes within the team and aligning activities across the various stakeholders.
    • Present communication and briefing documents across multiple teams and to client(s).
    • Manage the full lifecycle of a project, including planning, documentation, deliverables, and schedule.
    • Take a problem or initiative, analyze options, and successfully implement the initiative.
    • Help build, develop, and grow strategic relationships vital to the success of the project.
    • Ensure that the appropriate standards, processes and documentation are established within the initiative.
    • Proactively identify project issues and risks, and work with the project team for timely resolutions.
    • Leverage best practices, techniques, and tools for quality control, project planning, execution, project management, ongoing milestone tracking, communication, and key performance metrics.
    • Experience in a rapid paced, time sensitive, high quality environment.
    • Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to effectively communicate solutions.
    • Ability to take direction and achieve quality results, independently strive for personal excellence when completing tasks.
    • Strong customer service focus to meet the needs of internal and external customers.

    Qualifications / Requirements

    • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in managing large government IT programs.
    • Bachelor’s degree in any technical or managerial discipline.
    • Experience with highly visible government initiatives.
    • Strong IT PMO experience on a Federal contract.
    • Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and MS Project.
    • Experience in a rapid paced, time sensitive, high quality environment.
    • History of ethical performance.
    • Exhibit considerable client delivery, business development, and proposal development experience.
    • Strong management, teamwork, and interpersonal skills against difficult due dates and timelines.
    • Strong written and verbal skills to effectively communicate at all levels in government and industry.

    Desired Elements

    • Active DoD Secret Clearance preferred.
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and MS Project
    • Proposal development experience
    • Knowledge of Federal contract vehicles
    • Experience with government contracting firms supporting the Federal government.
